Gender Equity Policy
At Digital Natives Academy, we are committed to upholding the principles of mana wāhine (the empowerment of women) and mana tāne (the empowerment of men) in all aspects of our operations as well as those who sit outside of traditional notions of gender. Our Gender Equality Plan reflects our dedication to promoting equity and inclusivity within our community.
Key elements of our policy include:
- Public Gender Equality Statement: We will publish a formal document on our website (this document), endorsed by our leadership, articulating our commitment to gender equality and outlining our strategies for achieving it.
- Dedicated Resources: We will allocate appropriate human resources and expertise to implement and monitor our policy effectively.
- Data Collection and Monitoring: We will gather and analyse sex/gender disaggregated data on our personnel and students, and provide regular reports based on key indicators to monitor progress towards gender equity.
- Training: We will provide culturally responsive awareness-raising sessions and training on gender equity and unconscious gender biases for all staff and decision-makers, drawing on te ao Māori perspectives.
- Key Areas of Focus: Our concrete measures and targets will encompass:
- Work-life balance and organizational culture
- Gender balance in leadership and decision-making roles
- Gender equality in recruitment and career progression
- Integration of the gender dimension into research and teaching content
- Measures against gender-based violence, including sexual harassment
Through these commitments, Digital Natives Academy seeks to create a nurturing and equitable environment where all individuals can thrive and contribute to the flourishing of Te Ao Matihiko from a te ao Māori perspective.
